Description

Telegram sent to President John F. Kennedy at Buckingham Palace during his visit to London, two pages, 7.5 x 4.75, June 5, 1961. In full: "Mr. Kennedy, President of the United States, Buckingham Palace SW1. Strictly Private. Welcome to Britain. But not your Polaris and air bases, they must and will go Britain will give up nuclear weapons, to join India, Africa, to form a neutral bloc for disarmament in the United Nations. World law must come to avoid world annihilation. Greetings to your people. For God and human race 2/3rds starving—Norman Hamilton, Ambassador for Peace." In fine condition, with intersecting folds. Includes the original transmittal envelope and a photocopy of a letter of provenance from JFK's personal secretary Evelyn Lincoln to noted collector Robert L. White, stating that a packet of correspondence from his visit to London was removed from his Oval Office desk on the morning of November 23, 1963. Originates from the Robert L. White collection and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Erik L. Dorr.
