Prominently signed and inscribed on the half-title page in fountain pen, "To Tommy Bell, with my best wishes, Walt Disney." Autographic condition: very good, with toning, staining, and creasing to the signed page, which is also signed by several unrelated people. Book condition: VG/VG-, with the book expertly restored (vintage front and back cover replaced the originals, and page binding repaired), and edge chips and overall toning to the dust jacket. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Phil Sears Collectibles.
The Big Bad Wolf made his first appearance in Disney's Academy Award-winning 1933 Silly Symphony short 'The Three Little Pigs.' He reappeared as the star of the 1934 Silly Symphony short 'The Big Bad Wolf,' which retells the story of Little Red Riding Hood with the addition of the pigs to the story. The popular characters were then used for this book, vividly illustrated by the staff of Walt Disney Studios. As an uncommon title boasting a huge mid-1930s Disney signature inside, this is an outstanding early piece.
