Description

ROBERT F. KENNEDY WRITES DAVE POWERS, AUGUST 28, 1967: "What would you tell Lyndon to do to help his popularity"

Robert F. Kennedy TLS, official United States Senate letterhead, August 28, 1967 to Dave Powers, thanking him for his kind note and additionally adding in ink the question, "What would you tell Lyndon to do to help his popularity," signed twice in ink "Bob" with original envelope, Dave Powers inscribed folder dated 8/28/67. Extremely compelling content as President Johnson's popularity at this time was sinking because of the United States' involvement in Vietnam. President Johnson would soon announce he would not seek a second term in office, and Robert Kennedy would enter the race for president in 1968. With original envelope from Robert Kennedy to Dave Powers.

Provenance: Dave Powers Estate.
From The Paloger Collection of John F. Kennedy Memorabilia, Historic Photographs & Original Negatives.
