Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA. In direct competition with the American and National Leagues, the Federal League was established in 1913 as a 'third major league.' Widely regarded by the establishment as an 'outlaw league,' the Federal League raided existing major league rosters, stealing many well known players such as Joe Tinker, Eddie Plank, Chief Bender, and Mordecai 'Three-Finger' Brown. Due to financial pressures, the Federal League folded after the 1915 season.
Offered is a "Federal League of Professional Baseball Clubs" full season pass, signed by the Federal League President James Gilmore. Indicated on the front as an "Annual Pass to All Grounds," this pass allowed baseball fan "A.G. McKinley" to see any Federal League game in any stadium during the 1915 season, the final season of its two-year existence. While a few single game passes have surfaced over the years, this is the first Annual Pass signed by the League's President we have seen offered. While the pass is in Fair to Good condition, with extensive corner wear, edge chipping, and various areas of paper loss on the reverse, the condition faults are relegated to the periphery and reverse, not affecting the preprinted areas nor the two handwritten names.
Due to the league's life span of two seasons, Federal League memorabilia is in short supply and high demand with this offered item one of the first 'all league' passes ever offered.
