People's Choice Award presented to Burt Reynolds as "Favorite Motion Picture Actor" at the 10th Annual People's Choice Awards at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on March 15, 1984, measuring 14″ in height with a square base of 3.75″, and weighing approximately 11.5 pounds. This gorgeously rendered crystal award in the shape of a flame was made by Orrefors and is etched with the image of hands clapping, with lower base section neatly engraved: "The People's Choice Award, 1984, Burt Reynolds, Favorite Motion Picture Actor." Lower edge of base marked: "Orrefors Olle Alberius 1985 No. 7 R. P." In very good to fine condition, with some missing glass to an area of cracking to bottom left of flame, and a handful of chips and dings, notably to top edge and back left edge of base, and a tiny chip to flame tip; despite its flaws, the award remains impressive and entirely displayable. Accompanied by a color transparency of Reynolds holding this very award.
One of the biggest stars of the 1970s, Reynolds received this People's Choice Award in 1984 during the beginning of his career downturn. The year of this award Reynolds starred in a pair of highly anticipated films—Cannonball Run II, a sequel to the successful cross country road race comedy from a few years prior, and City Heat, a buddy crime-comedy with Clint Eastwood, who shared the People's Choice podium with Reynolds in 1984 when both men were deemed "Favorite Motion Picture Actor.’ The films were panned by critics and earned modest to poor showings at the box office, with Reynolds' streak of three consecutive People's Choice Awards coming to an end the following year. Reynolds returned to the People's Choice Awards in 1991 when he served as host and won ‘Favorite Male Performer In A New TV Series’ for his role in Evening Shade.
