Anne Shirley's screen-worn skirt from her role as Anne Shirley in the 1940 RKO film Anne of Windy Poplars, the sequel to 1934's Anne of Green Gables. The long navy skirt has a short zipper in the back, with tag sewn into the seam, annotated: "G2616, A. Shirley, 1906." In fine condition. Shirley began her career as a child actress under the stage name Dawn O'Day, until playing Anne Shirley in the screen adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic Anne of Green Gables in 1934; after that, she retained the stage name Anne Shirley for the rest of her career.
