Description

Collection of nine items relating to the 1910 and 1911 Coanda aircraft, a sesquiplane and precursor to the motorjet that was designed by Romanian inventor Henri Coanda. The experimental engine, called a ‘turbo-propulseur,’ consisted of a conventional piston engine driving a multi-bladed centrifugal blower that exhausted into a duct.

The group includes:

Two vintage 6.5 x 4.75 photos of the Coanda exhibited at the Second International Aeronautical Exhibition in Paris in October 1910; and five vintage photos, each approximately 6.5 x 4.75, showing images of Coanda’s 1911 monoplane.

A rare color “Aeroplanes Coanda” brochure, 6.25 x 9.5, seven pages, with front text reading (translated): “Only Airplanes without Propellers”; and a rare color “Aeroplanes Henri Coanda” brochure, 6 x 9.25, seven pages, with front stamped “463” and text reading (translated): “Only airplanes having flown with 2 engines.” In overall fine condition.
