Three ALSs signed “Thornton Wilder,” four total pages, dated between 1950 and 1969, each addressed to Ken and Joyce Browne. The earliest, postmarked October 29, 1950, penned on the reverse of a 5.5 x 3.5 postcard, in part: “Golly, it’s years since I’ve had any photos around, except for those glossy ones that institutions always ask for for publicity for lectures etc”; another, June 4, 1965, penned on 50 Deepwood Drive letterhead, in part: “I’m sorry that you’ve asked me for two things I cannot give you. Years ago I had to make the decision not to send photos. The requests took too much time. I have no secretary and I hope I never will have. And I haven’t had a ‘personal card’ for more than 30 years”; and the last, September 23, 1969, also Deepwood Drive letterhead, in part: “I know your part of the world well—I went to Arizona and became a semi-recluse for 20 months in Douglas—no phone, no cook except myself and a can-opener…no interruptions. Wrote most of The Eighth Day there.” Includes three original mailing envelopes addressed in Wilder’s own hand. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by stamp blocks, newspaper clippings, and two letters from Wilder’s sister Isabel.
