Description

Diverse collection of aerospace-related items, including official NASA books, a once-classified NACA report, an Apollo 15 medal signed on its case by Al Worden, and four aerospace models:

Five official NASA books: a softcover copy of The Apollo Spacecraft: A Chronology, Volume I (SP-4009), published by NASA in 1969; a hardcover copy of Stages to Saturn (SP-4206), published by NASA in 1980; and a set of three hardcover NASA Historical Data Books, Volumes I-III (SP-4012), published by NASA in 1988. In overall very good to fine condition, with wear and soiling to covers of the softcover book.

A "Research Memorandum" published by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), entitled "Theoretical Investigation Based on Experimental Frequency-Response Measurements of an Automatic Altitude Control in Combination with a Supersonic Missile Configuration," by Ernest C. Seaberg, Edward S. Geller, and William W. Willoughby of the Langley Aeronautical Laboratory, softcover, 7.75 x 10.25, 28 pages, August 3, 1954 (declassified June 20, 1957). In fine condition.

Uncommon Apollo 15 commemorative bronze medal, 2.5″ in diameter, designed by Ralph J. Menconi and struck by the Medallic Art Co. of New York. The front shows the crew in relief with raised names and the mission lunar emblem; the reverse depicts the lunar rover driving on the Hadley-Apennine region, with raised text and the lunar module and Earth in the distance. Housed in a plastic 4 x 4 display case, signed on the front in black felt tip, “Al Worden, Apollo 15.” In fine condition.

Collection of four aerospace models, including: a Soviet model of a fighter plane, measuring 14″ long, set on a plastic stand with a Cyrillic inscription; a model of a rocket featuring a clear center with a gyroscopic element inside, measuring 12″ long, set on a metal stand; a metal model of a turbine, measuring 10″ long, set on a metal stand; and a miniature model of the Martin Lacrosse missile, encased in a 5″ x 4″ x 2.25″ acrylic block. In overall very good to fine condition.
