Dramatic vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 glamour portrait of Shirley Ross, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Ken: who will always be one of my dearest friends, no. 3 or no no. 3 Lovingly, Shirley.” In fine condition, with mild corner wear and moderate contrast to signature and inscription. Ross was an actress and singer (1913-1975) best known for her performances in Waikiki Wedding opposite Bing Crosby, The Big Broadcast of 1938, Thanks for the Memory, and Some Like It Hot, all with Bob Hope.
Vintage matte-finish 10.75 x 13.75 full-length portrait of Lina Basquette posing in a lovely flowing ballerina gown, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Mrs. Bill Keefe, Sincerest regards & best wishes, from, Lina Basquette, 1928.” Also signed by the photographer in black pencil. Reverse bears a Jean de Strelecki photography stamp. In fine condition. Basquette was an actress (1907-1994) remembered for an entertainment career that spanned over seven decades. A lovely photo of Basquette, an actress who Follies producers officially dubbed ‘America's Prima Ballerina.’
Uncommon vintage sepia matte-finish 8 x 10 portrait of Esther Ralston, signed and inscribed in black ink, “To my real friend and able co-worker, Howard Greer, Always, Sincerely, Esther Ralston.” Signed in the lower right in fountain pen by the photographer, “G. Maillard Kesslere, 1/25.” In fine condition. Greer was a Hollywood fashion designer and a costume designer in the Golden Age of American cinema; he created both personal and film wardrobes for stars including Mary Pickford, Gloria Swanson, Ginger Rogers, and Katherine Hepburn.
Vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 portrait of Louella Parsons, affectionately signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To my husband—and this is news in Hollywood—I love him, Louella Parsons Martin, Oct 29 ‘37.” In good to very good condition, with scattered creases and edge tears, a missing lower right corner, and silvering to darker areas. Parsons was America’s first movie columnist (1881-1972) whose columns were read by 20 million people. Parsons married Los Angeles surgeon Dr. Harry Martin in 1930, and remained married until the latter’s death in 1951.
