Set of six original vintage glossy NASA photos, 8 x 10 and 10 x 8, each depicting the Saturn VSA-506 rocket used to send the crew of Apollo 11 to the moon, with images including: a close-up image of the five powerful engines of the 138-foot-tall S-1C booster; an image of the S-IVB third stage being stacked upon the S-II second stage inside the Spaceport’s Vehicle Assembly Building; three spectacular images of the 363-foot-high Apollo 11 Saturn V during its 3.5 mile rollout; and an image of the Saturn V positioned atop pedestals at Launch Complex 39A. Reverse of five photos bear official purple NASA caption text, and one bears an affixed Newsbureau press release caption. In overall fine condition.
One of the most incredible aspects of the Dan Schaiewitz Collection is the astounding assortment of vintage NASA photographs. As an integral part of KSC’s PLSS training, most notably on the first lunar landing mission, he actually took part in these amazing behind-the-scenes moments: Dan himself tested Armstrong’s space suit.
