Nineteenth-century American firearm, sewing machine, and typewriter manufacturers; E. Remington and Sons manufactured the first commercial typewriter on March 1, 1873, and their small arms were used widely by the United States government in World War I and World War II. Five Ilion Bank checks, each approximately 7 x 2.5, dated between 1853 and 1866, with two filled out and signed by Samuel Remington, "S. Remington," and three by Eliphalet Remington, "E. Remington." In overall fine condition.
