Extremely rare Apollo 11 "Hornet Plus Three" button, measuring 2.25″ in diameter, featuring deep navy blue text on an ivory-colored background. Text around the rim reads: "Official button worn by the 3 astronauts on their return from lunar landing, July 24, 1969, made in Hawaii by Scheller Apoian Specialties." In fine condition. Consignor notes that he originally purchased this from noted JFK collector Robert L. White. The Apollo 11 astronauts wore a version of this button that lacked the first part of the text on the rim, and this variation was created at the same time that Scheller Apoian Specialties produced the buttons that Apollo 12 wore upon being picked up by the USS Hornet, which read, 'Hornet, Three More Like Before, Apollo 12.' These Apollo 11 "Hornet Plus Three" are very rare buttons, and were likely released as part of a press informational packet.
