Director and choreographer (1895–1976) whose lavish, elaborate dance numbers defined the look of movie musicals in the 1930s and 1940s. Vintage matte-finish 10.5 x 13.5 portrait of Berkeley wearing a suit and tie, signed and inscribed to boxing legend Jack Dempsey in fountain pen, "To Jack, A great fighter—and a great guy—(who accidentally married a great girl), Sincerely—Busby Berkeley, 'Warner Bros. Pictures.'” Affixed to a same-size mount. In fine condition, with poor contrast to all of the handwriting against Berkeley's dark suit. Photo was originally displayed at Jack Dempsey's Broadway Restaurant. Pre-certified Beckett Authentication Services.
