Soldier and legislator (1810–1884) who served under Capt. John C. Hays in the Texas Rangers, served as sheriff in San Antonio, and represented Bexar County in the Republic’s House of Representatives. Manuscript DS, signed “F. L. Paschal,” one page, 7.5 x 6.25, July 12, 1841. Promissory note issued from San Antonio, in part: “On demand, I promise to pay to Howard & Ogden…the sum of Forty eight dollars, twelve and one half cents, for value received in Merchandize.” Signed at the conclusion by Paschal as a witness. In very good condition, with expected document wear, stray ink marks and staining to right side, and scattered soiling. Provenance: The Robert Davis Collection.
