Tony Soprano’s personal Cadillac Escalade
Extraordinary white 2003 Cadillac Escalade ESV used on screen by James Gandolfini in his iconic role as Tony Soprano during the last three seasons of the award-winning HBO series The Sopranos. This Escalade was originally leased through Movie Time Cars Incorporated as one of two identical vehicles used in production, with this specific car used primarily for exterior shots including those showing Tony Soprano and his associates entering, exiting, and driving, as well as in shots where the car appeared in the scene during dialogue. This Escalade represented Tony’s personal car and primary means of transportation, frequently used to show him going to and from his own driveway, meetings with members of the New York families, and the notorious landmarks of the Sopranos’ fictional universe like the Bada Bing strip club and Satriale's Pork Store. This vehicle was also utilized in action sequences including the infamous chase from season five in which Tony, angrily trying to collect a debt, drives Phil Leotardo off the road and into a parked car. James Gandolfini has also prominently signed the interior of the Escalade three times in black felt tip, once inside the driver’s side sun visor, “Thanks for the truck, James Gandolfini,” once on the panel above the glovebox, “James Gandolfini,” and lastly on the back of the driver’s seat headrest “James Gandolfini.” A decidedly unique, recognizable prop from one of the most acclaimed television series ever produced.
The VIN number of the vehicle is 3GYFK66N13G284596 and the New Jersey license plate number is “42QVLT.” The car was leased directly to the production by Movie Time Cars Incorporated; the principal vehicles that were used on The Sopranos were either purchased by or leased to Soprano Productions Inc. by Movie Time Cars in New Jersey. The company was responsible for all storage, maintenance, and delivery of vehicles to filming locations during the entire course of production. The second Escalade, which was purchased directly by the production company, was mostly used for limited interior driving shots. Since being purchased at auction with just under 100,000 miles on it, the here-offered, extensively screen-used Escalade remains in great working condition and has only 108,969 total miles today. The vehicle has been safely stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse, with the engine being started weekly to maintain its performance. Car is accompanied by an official prop license for Gandolfini’s character, Anthony Soprano, and a framed photograph signed by five Sopranos cast members, including Gandolfini. Bidding note: the vehicle is currently stored in Vancouver, Canada, and the buyer is responsible all shipping costs. RR Auction will help facilitate the relocation of this vehicle.
