The Chicago Insurance Association, as a token of esteem and in recognition of high professional attainment of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Distinguished leader in the field of human rights, Ever-striving champion of equality of educational opportunities, Recognized for his imprint on the national character in the fight for civil rights, deems him worthy of special commendation. Conferred on August Twenty-First, Nineteen Hundred and Sixty-Three.” In very good condition, with scattered scuffs and dings, and an element of the award missing from the right side (perhaps a pen holder).
