Ballpoint signature, “To Lizi, John Lennon,” on an off-white 4.25 x 6.25 lightly-lined notebook page, with Lennon having made an earlier attempt to sign his last name above, and a collector’s date notation below; two underlying pages removed from the notebook are included beneath. Double-matted, and framed with a photo of Lennon, a patch and small image of the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover, and an engraved plate with collector’s information to an overall size of 19.25 x 16.25. Some soiling to edges and corners, and bits of paper loss to frayed left edge, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a handwritten letter of provenance from former Apple Scruff Lizzie Bravo, as well as two typed copies, reading, in part: “Denise asked John to sign for me outside of EMI Studios on February 2nd, 1967, at 1:30 am. She mailed me the autograph to Rio. Since the pen didn’t work well, she also sent the next two pages from her notebook, where you can still see the autograph—he had to write really hard to make it work!” Also accompanied by a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo. Nicknamed by George Harrison for their dedicated gatherings outside of the Apple Corps building and at the gates of Abbey Road Studios, the Apple Scruffs were devoted fans who sought interaction with the band members throughout latter-day Beatlemania. Along with Gayleen Pease, Bravo was one of two fortunate Apple Scruffs to have been handpicked by Paul McCartney to lend backing vocals to the 1968 song ‘Across the Universe.’ Pre-certified REAL.
