Rare Civil War–dated manuscript field orders in pencil, signed “Official, Robt Grant A A G,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7.5, April 27, 1865. Special Field Orders No. 65 issued by General William T. Sherman. In part: “The Genl commanding announces a further suspension of hostilities and a final agreement with Genl. Johnston which terminates the war as to the armies under his command and the country east of the Chattahoochee.” Fragile central vertical and horizontal folds and significant dampstaining throughout, otherwise fine condition.
