Florence Harding’s Black Shoe Buckles and Evening Bag

First Lady Harding’s personally-owned and -worn shoe buckles and evening bag presented to White House maid Maggie Rogers. Oval-shaped black leather buckles measure 2.75 x 2, with a sewn-on bead pattern; colorful metallic purse measures 3.75 x 7.5, has a black, gold, turquoise and white pattern on the sides, with a silver chain link handle and solid clasp. Both pieces are accompanied by July 4, 1982, detailed letters of authenticity, on White House stationery, from Lillian Roger Parks, who was a best selling author as well as housekeeper and seamstress at the White House for over 30 years, from Hoover through Eisenhower.
