ALS in French, one page both sides, 5.25 x 8, Librarie de L. Hachette letterhead, May 19, 1865. An early letter recommending an artist friend, painter Francois-Marie Firmin-Girard. Included is a second sheet in an unknown hand outlining Girard’s biography and career. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, some mild toning, pencil notation to top of first page, and light show-through from writing on opposite side.
