An erroneous headline announces: “Titanic Hit Berg: All Safe on Board, and She May Not Sink.” Another predicts financial losses for the International Mercantile Marine Company: “Big Loss Certain: Even With Titanic Safe, Owners Hard Hit.” Nearly the entire front page is filled with columns describing the event—though, at the time, unaware of the tragic outcomes.
