Original 4 x 6 albumen photo of Whitman, affixed to its original 6.25 x 8.5 mount, with a notation written on the mount by Whitman’s housekeeper Mary Davis, “’O! Take my hand.’ Walt Whitman, Mary O. Davis, May 10th 1898.” A tear to right edge of mount, some light rippling, and a light horizontal line through facial area, otherwise fine condition.
