Unsigned autograph postscript on an off-white 7.25 x 1.5 slip removed from a letter of March 18, 1770, to historian Edward Gibbon. In full: “P. S. I desire my compliments to our friend, M. Deyverdun; if you have occasion to see him.” A notation to the right side describes the slip’s origin. Affixed to a larger scrapbook page. In very good condition, with a partially separated vertical fold passing through the right side of the writing. Jacques Georges Deyverdun was a Swiss scholar and close friend of Gibbon.
