Untranslated LS in Italian, signed “Metastasio,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7 x 9, May 31, 1738. Letter to his colleague, poet and librettist Stelio Mastraca, whose opera he has received from Gozati. Reverse of second integral page bears an address panel in an unknown hand, and retains much of its red wax seal. In very good condition, with several tape repairs, none affecting legibility, intersecting folds, and some light toning from red wax seal. RR Auction COA.
