Union general (1820–1906) and US Senator from Nebraska. Original 4 x 6.5 cabinet photo by an anonymous studio, signed in the lower border in black ink, “John M. Thayer, Brigadier & Major General of U.S. Volunteers, Taken in 1869.” In fine condition, with some slight crazing to image, a few surface marks, and a bit of light soiling and a fingerprint to bottom border.
