In part: “Dr. Dourlen will send you a proof of my Lincoln…I hope this may meet with your approbation as I have striven hard to make a work of art, and a truthful likeness of Abraham Lincoln. With regard to its accuracy as a likeness, I have the commendation of our eminent public men, as well as the most intimate friends of the lamented patriot.
