In part: “The draft has been resisted by an immense mob…They attacked the Drafting Office—burned them, drove off & beated the officers…Poor miserable deluded Irish…I have kept out of the worst district but I have seen some of the poor colored men stoned & beaten & if you dare say a word you get the same treatment...Oh it is horrid—such is war.” In fine condition.
