Description

“I was too much occupied in the field to avail myself of the opportunities for artists”

ALS, one page, lightly-lined, 5 x 7.75, Galveston, Texas, February 15, 1875. Letter to an admirer. In full: “I have no picture of the period you desire, and know not where you can find one. Indeed I was too much occupied in the field to avail myself of the opportunities for artists. I regret not being able to gratify you.” In fine condition, with a few trivial spots of soiling. Accompanied by an unsigned carte-de-visite bust portrait of Bragg in uniform, with an ink notation in another hand. One of a handful of ALSs from Bragg that we have offered, accompanied by an apparently scarce image from his military years. RR Auction COA.
