French photographer (1832–1909) who opened his own studio in 1858 and was the official photographer of the 1867 Exposition Universelle. He was also the first to attempt underwater photography, in 1898. In part (translated): “We have 14 different portraits of the Grand Monsieur Rucur Archbishop of Avignon including 6 in ceremonial dress; 2 in large format…If you wish the prints, you can order from me the cartes at 0.40 c. the albums 01.80 c. The 24/30 large portraits—4 francs & the 30/40—7 francs. I have them available on opal glass, albums, and carte-de-visite, promenade salon.” In fine condition, with mild scattered toning and soiling.
