Eminent Viennese composer (1825–1899), known as the ‘Waltz King,’ best known for such all-time favorites as ‘The Beautiful Blue Danube’ and the ‘Emperor Waltz,’ and for the operetta staple Die Fledermaus. Original 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo by H. Eckert of Prague, inscribed in German at the top of the image in black ink and signed at bottom, “Johann Strauss.” Scattered surface marks and impressions, light dings to the corners, some irregular adhesion to the inscription and signature, and a few small pencil notations to the reverse, otherwise fine condition.
