W. H. Auden

British-American poet (1907–1973) best known for such classic verses as ‘September 1, 1939’ and ‘The Age of Anxiety’ and for his musical collaborations with composer Benjamin Britten. ALS signed “Wystan Auden,” one page on a government postcard, 3.25 x 5.5, postmarked July 26, 1940. Letter to Marian Green of Riverdale, New York. In part: “As you will see I am in the country where I shall be until the end of August. But if you are in N.Y. in the fall or are coming up this way before that, I should be very glad to see and hear news.” In very good condition, with heavy scattered creases, some affecting the signature.
