Flight-ready duct fan intended for mounting in the Skylab Orbital Workshop space station ventilation control subsystem. Cylindrical fan assembly measures approximately 7.5 x 7 x 7, weighs 12.5 pounds, with a handle and power supply plug at the top. A parts identification plate affixed to the center from the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center identifies the part as “Fan Assy (Heat Exchr).” A smaller parts label is affixed to a component of the fan, again from the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, serial number 8, with an accepted date of May 1972. The fan (installed as a cluster of four) delivered conditioned and recirculated atmosphere to the crew. It was designed for easy replacement; squeezing the handle retracted the fan retainer pins and released the fan from its mounted location to facilitate exchange by the astronauts. RR Auction COA.
