Original early 1900s platinum print photograph, 9.75 x 13, of a Native American fishing by Edward S. Curtis. The photo has both Curtis' personal and his studio's drystamp, and also has his hand signature in the lower right of the image. The signature is faded. The platinum image presents well, but there is heavy foxing and toning in areas of the photo including the white border and back. There is edge wear including a chipped/creased upper right corner. The platinum print is ranked as one of the highest forms of black and white photography, and does not fade or deteriorate like the more common albumen and gelatin silver prints. Curtis considered his platinum prints to be his best paper photographs (he also made glass orotones). A premium photograph by history's most famous and celebrated photographer of American Indians and American Indian life.
