ALS signed “F. J. Porter,” one page, 5.5 x 8.5, Central Rail Road Co. of New Jersey letterhead, April 5, 1880. Letter to Colonel Nicholson. In part: “I also send the mass petition. If the Penn Members can be petitioned it will do good.…letters from west Pa.—are republicans who are very bitter & say they will work against the party if the matter is not righted.” In very good condition, with uniform toning from previous display, missing lower right corner tip, intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and a rusty paperclip mark to left edge.
