Description

Dale Carnegie and David O. Decker

DS, signed “Dale Carnegie” and “D. O. Decker,” one page, 8.5 x 11, February 4, 1941. MGM requests Carnegie’s approval to use his name in the dialogue of one of their films, Married Bachelor. Decker explains the context: “One of the characters in the picture is a fictitious publisher, who is talking with another fictitious character about a book that the latter has brought to him for publication…The dialogue in question is this: ‘We are going to sell this book and make you as famous as Dale Carnegie’…We of course, do not want to use your name if this use is not agreeable to you, but we think you will agree that the foregoing use is harmless and even complimentary.” Carnegie signs his approval at the conclusion. A few scattered creases and wrinkles, some paper loss to the upper left corner, and two punch holes to the top, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
