Oliver Ellsworth

Third Chief Justice of the United States and delegate to the Constitutional Congress who later submitted the amendments which became the Bill of Rights. Manuscript DS, signed “O. Ellsworth,” one page, 8 x 6.5, January 12, 1778. In full: “Pay Linus Abner Smith Fifteen pounds three shillings & four pence lawful money & charge the state.” Tape stains to the top and bottom edges, a portion of the lower right corner torn off, and another signature somewhat overlapping Ellsworth’s, otherwise very good condition. RRAuction COA.
