Pioneer (1867–1939) in American film making and a founder of Universal Studios. His son (1908–1979) was in charge of production at Universal Studios in the 1920s and 1930s. Two items: TLS signed “Carl Laemmle,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Universal Pictures Corporation letterhead, January 2, 1929, authorizing the studio comptroller access to bonds at the Bank of Italy in Hollywood; and an ALS signed “Carl Laemmle, Jr.,” one page, 6 x 9, Hotel Del Monte letterhead, no date. In part: “This authorizes my father, Carl Laemmle Sr., to be the cosignee…replacing myself as signor in the safety box held in vault and allowing him access to the box.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered toning and soiling, and bank stampings touching Carl Sr.’s name. Acompanied by a Bank of America envelope with Carl Jr.’s typed name. RRAuction COA.
