In part: “You do pay unto our trusty & beloved Captain John Armstrong, the sum of seven hundred seventy seven pounds…without deduction, being for the levy money & pay of sundry Non-Commissioned Officers & private men raised by him towards forming an Independent Company of Foot.” Signed at the top by George. Double matted and framed to an overall size of 16.25 x 21.5. Light intersecting folds and some scattered light toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition.
