One of the few male survivors of the ill-fated Titanic. He was drawn under when the vessel sank, but managed to reach a life raft and succeeded in rescuing twenty-nine other passengers. He died December 4, 1912, of complications from exposure to the icy water. Bank check, 7.25 x 3, filled out and signed by Gracie, payable to The Misses Eastman School for $15.25, May 7, 1906.
