Union general (1803–1862) killed at the Battle of Antietam. Ink signature, "Jos. K. F. Mansfield, B. Genl.," on an off-white 3.5 x 1 slip removed from a larger document. Matted with a computer generated image likeness to an overall size of 13 x 15. In fine condition, with three words of printed text visible above his name. Mansfield was promoted to brigadier general in May, 1861 making this a war date signature. RRAuction COA.
