Description

"It is our hope that the Kennedy Memorial Skating Centre will continue to provide pleasure and recreation for the young people of...Barnstable"

Patriarch of the fabled family of American politicians (1888–1969) who served as the American ambassador to Great Britain, from 1938 to 1940. TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, March 28, 1958. Kennedy writes Howard Sears, town clerk of Barnstable, Massachusetts. In full: "Thank you for the copy of the resolutions which were adopted at the annual town meeting of the Town of Barnstable, held on March 4, 1958. We are, of course, delighted that our neighbors have enjoyed the skating rink during the past winter and we are indeed honored that they have chosen to make their enjoyment a matter of public record. It is our hope that the Kennedy Memorial Skating Centre will continue to provide pleasure and recreation for the young people of the Town of Barnstable and for their parents and friends whose interest and co-operation made it possible." A few creases (heavier at the lower left and right corners) and three sets of initials at the top left corner, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
