TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, October 21, 1991. Benchley writes a fan about his most famous work and offers some advice. In full: "I'm pleased that you liked JAWS, but if you aspire to be a writer, why not go off and write something of your own? JAWS is an antique. I had nothing to do with any of the sequels, nor did I want to. I've only seen bits and pieces of a couple of them. Writing something original is always more satisfying that [sic] copying, imitating, emulating or even extending someone else's work. Find a story that inspires you, and go to it." Benchley added an impressive drawing of a shark at the bottom of the page. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. RRAuction COA.
