Ferruccio Busoni

Important Italian composer, pianist, and conductor (1866–1924) best known for his complex contrapuntal keyboard works. ALS in German, signed twice, including once in the text, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, August 2, 1896. Letter regarding piano editions. In part (translated): "Finally I am in a position (to my great pleasure) to send you the (handwritten) draft of the III book the edition Claviertheoretische Theil. With this first volume, including among others, the piano studies part of my work, finds it conclusion…With this large amount of material, I was not in a position to add the little details of fingerings…Please instruct the engraver to have great attention, with the clarity and also care in handling the manuscript which is loose and patched…Please propose to Mr. Klisner to publish a compiled edition of studies for the Cis dur Praeludium, for the B dur Praeludium, and the Pracher Fugue = edited by Ferruccio B. Busoni." Several blue pencil underlines, show-through from writing on reverse of pages, and a couple rusty paperclip marks to top of first page, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
