"In photography there is no language barrier"

German-American photographer and photojournalist (1898–1995) best known for his image of the famous V-J Day kiss in Times Square. TLS signed 'Alfred Eisenstaedt,' one page, 7.25 x 11, LIFE magazine letterhead, February 10, 1981. In part: 'When I read your lines, I realized again how lucky and fortunate I am to have chosen the profession as a photographer at the right time when photojournalism as a new phenomenon was born in Germany in the late twentieth. In photography there is no language barrier so I could begin to work in this country when LIFE Magazine was born in 1936. Of course one had to devote a great deal of effort and show enthusiasm for this kind of work.' In fine condition. Eisenstaedt became known to millions worldwide through his work for LIFE Magazine, which he joined as one of the first four staff photographers in 1935 and left in 1972. RRAuction COA.
