Exceptional archive of 11 Revolutionary War Pay Orders (all dated 1776), five being signed or initialed by Oliver Ellsworth, as a member of the Connecticut Pay Table Committee (one signed June 7, 1776, less than a month before the signing of the Declaration of Independence) for various supplies, mostly firearms for the Continental Army. The remaining six documents are pay orders for Salt Petre, used in the manufacture of gunpowder, signed by various members of the Connecticut Pay Table. In very good overall condition. A fascinating collection of documents directly related to the acquisition of supplies used by the Continental army against the British. RRAuction COA.
