Lunar receiving laboratory stainless steel containment vessel, 8.5 x 4.5, used to hold moon rocks upon their return to Earth. This two-piece vessel has four bolts which attach the two parts together, as well as a carrying handle to top portion. Both pieces are etched with serial numbers BXL-011. A heavy-duty vessel such as this would have been used to transport lunar samples outside of the laboratory. Accompanying the vessel is a now-detached NASA tag, dated June 4, 1971, noted that it has been cleaned for service. RRAuction COA.
