Nobel Prize–winning physicist who was the first to isolate the electron and measure its charge. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, California Institute of Technology letterhead, July 11, 1950. Millikan agrees to speak before a church group. In part: “I have been talking far and wide on the theme of religion and science and if you think it worth-while to repeat the same ideas before your group at the Church of Our Saviour some Sunday morning, I shall try to do as you wish, although any talk on this theme would be of use would take something like a half hour.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and scattered light toning and soiling.
