Vice President of the Confederacy under Jefferson Davis (1812–1883). ALS, one page, 4 x 2.5, March 27, 1881. Short invitation to dinner. In full: “Will Mr. Tanney join Col. Johnston with a few friends at dinner with me in my parlor at 2 o’clock today? Please let me know.” Matted with a small portrait of Stephens, to an overall size of 8 x 10.
