Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 11.5 x 9, June 27, 1818. President Monroe grants John Rolly 160 acres of land in the Illinois Territory. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Monroe and countersigned by the Commissioner of the General Land Office Josiah Miggs. Tucked in under the worn, but intact seal, is a note that reads, “A map of the Bounty lands and a description of this lot, its quality, situation and timber, may be had by sending one dollar to the General Land Office.” Double matted and framed with a color portrait of Monroe and a biographical caption, to an overall size of 19.5 x 23.5 In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and scattered areas of toning, heavier to upper portion, with a couple spots lightly affecting Monroe’s bold signature.
